Apple is rumored to be working on a larger iPad, a device that has been dubbed the “iPad Pro” by the tech blogosphere. A new report indicates that the larger iPad could come equipped with near-field communication (NFC) technology that might allow for new connected accessories.
The iPad Pro is expected to feature a 12.9-inch display, according to Apple Insider’s sources. The report also says that while the new device may be NFC enabled, it will probably not support the same tap-to-pay facilities that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus offer. However, the NFC support means that the iPad Pro could potentially serve as a payment terminal and accept NFC payments.

In addition to accessories, the iPad Pro may include a USB-C port either in place of or in addition to the Lightning port it currently features.
