Benchmark invests $10M into JBoss competitor, Interface21

Benchmark Capital has invested a $10 million first round of capital into Interface21, a two and a half year old Amsterdam, Netherlands company that competes with open source application server company JBoss, among others.

The investment is notable because Benchmark’s Peter Fenton previously backed JBoss, which was bought by RedHat for $420 million last year. Fenton is now leading the investment in Interface21. Fenton backed JBoss while he was at Accel Partners.

Here is the announcement by Interface about the investment.

The company will move to the SF Bay Area this summer.
