Hong Kong-based VC Horizon Ventures led a $6.5 million funding round for Bevi, the Bostonian startup announced this week.

Bevi developed a “smart beverage machine” that is controlled remotely through a cloud-based system. Instead of selling drinks in bottles or cans, the machine works as a cooler that dispenses sparkling and flavored water to the users’ bottles and cups.

“Our team is inspired to be part of the Horizons family, working alongside leading food and beverage entrepreneurs to make the industry healthier, more sustainable, and more innovative,” said Bevi’s CEO, Sean Grundy.

The series A investment will be used to geographically expand its product.
