Deep linking startup Branch Metrics‘ next big launch could blur the line between native apps and the mobile web.
The company offered us a sneak peek at the upcoming product, Deepviews, a service that will enable users to click an app link on their mobile device and view that content — even if they don’t have the app installed on their phone.
The service, only available to select app developers for now, auto-generates previews of native apps on the Web. “Deepviews brings content outside the app. When a user clicks on our link and they don’t have the app, we’ll dynamically create a preview of the content in the mobile Web,” Branch chief executive Alexander Austin tells us.
Austin announced the service on stage at VentureBeat’s MobileBeat conference yesterday.
It’ll be interesting to see who adopts Deepviews when it launches — Branch Metrics is already used by major tech companies and startups like Microsoft, Yelp, eBay, Instacart, and Kayak.
