gary shapiro at CES Unveiled 2

Gary Shapiro, chief executive of the Consumer Electronics Association, runs the largest U.S. tech trade show, which will draw 150,000 or so tech geeks to Las Vegas for this week’s Consumer Electronics Show. He is the tech industry’s chief lobbyist in Washington, and you can tell. Ask him if he has a favorite technology, and he’ll tell you that he doesn’t favor any single one of his member companies.

CES is the host to more than 3,300 exhibitors across 1.85 million square feet of space. But Shapiro, who has watched the industry grow for 30 years, is partial to companies with disruptive strategies. He refers to them as “ninja innovators” in his new book, Ninja Innovation. We talked with him about that and what’s new at the show this year.

Here’s our video interview with Shapiro.
