Convo, a project collaboration tool and enterprise-focused social network, has launched a refreshed version of its mobile app for Android and iOS.

Convo is part of a growing army of communication tools aimed at helping businesses communicate in-house, letting them share and organize information and messages.

Today’s mobile revamp comes a week after the California-based company introduced an all-new Web app, which gave a first glimpse of some new features that will now be available to those on the move too.

For example, users of the Web version can now “mute” posts and groups that may not be relevant to their day-to-day work. This is helpful when you’ve initially been “tagged” in a conversation, or you were actively involved at an earlier stage, but wish to opt out of receiving an alert each time a new comment is made.

Elsewhere, a new “instant search” feature brings predictive search to Convo — when you start typing, results instantly show relevant messages and conversations.

However, the mobile version offers a slew of extra functionality that has hitherto been missing — you can now “star” certain posts for easy access later. Also, you can create groups and manage members, and update your profile from within the app.

Overall, the app is slicker, smoother, and feels more like it’s been built for mobile. It’s certainly quicker, too, based on my brief tests.

Founded out of San Francisco in 2012, Convo is one of the key players in the enterprise productivity realm. But it’s a competitive market — Slack has emerged as Silicon Valley’s poster child for collaboration tools over the past 18 months, and recently claimed 1.1 million daily active users (DAU) and $25 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

While Convo doesn’t publish as detailed figures as Slack, there’s room for several players to succeed. And by turbo-charging its mobile app with additional useful features, it goes some way towards ensuring Convo keeps existing clients while simultaneously attracting new ones.
