Not having to schlep paper coupons around will be one of the great joys of mobile payments. And Samsung phone users will be among the first to realize this happiness.
The Korean phone giant has signed a deal with Coupons.com to allow Samsung Wallet users to automatically redeem the site’s coupons in brick-and-mortar stores.
Samsung Wallet is available on the Galaxy S III, Galaxy S 4, Galaxy S 5, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, and the Samsung Gear S smartwatch. The companies say the coupons can be added to more than 20 million Samsung flagship devices in the U.S.
In order to add coupons to Samsung’s Wallet, users select coupons from the Card Linked Offers page at the Coupons.com site. The coupon value is first credited to a MasterCard, Visa, or American Express in the user’s Samsung Wallet and then subtracted from the purchase amount when the user pays with Samsung Wallet. Coupons.comSamsung users can only add Card Linked Offers through the Samsung Wallet right now.
