Here's the schedule for D11, All Things D's annual tech conference

TERRANEA RESORT, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. — All Things D’s annual tech conference is just getting going. The organizers have just released the schedule, long secret except for the appearance of Apple chief executive Tim Cook tonight and Tesla founder Elon Musk tomorrow.

Highlights include Mary Meeker, a general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, who released her “state of the Internet” report here last year; Twitter chief Dick Costolo; IAC chariman Barry Diller; CNN president Jeff Zucker; GE chairman and CEO Jeff Immelt; and Kazuo Hirai, the president and CEO of Sony. But what most attendees are busy doing right now is picking up their swag bags and lugging them back to their hotel rooms. It’s an embarrassingly large quantity of stuff: A giant red “D11” duffel that probably weighs 20 pounds, and another canvas tote from Sony with additional goodies. The highlights inside include a Roku 3, a Sony Action Cam (with a headband mount to go with it), and three actual, printed-on-paper books, one of which is a huge coffee table thing on Disney architecture.

Plus, it has a big windbreaker with a giant Oracle logo on the back and a puffy down jacket that says D11. Not that you need either of these in this balmy Southern California coastal resort, which looks a little bit like Fantasy Island, minus the waterfalls and Ricardo Montalban.

It’s a little embarrassing, it’s so much. And no, I can’t keep a lot of the goodies: Anything worth more than about $25 is over VentureBeat’s gift limit. The Oracle jacket is too tacky to wear anywhere except the deck of Larry Ellison’s yacht; the D11 fleece will probably go to my daughter; and I’ll donate the electronics. I’m keeping that Earth Wind & Fire CD, though.
