They’re in! Meet the DEMO Fall 2011 Speakers

The fall DEMO conference is only weeks away, on September 12-14th in Santa Clara, Calif. and we’re excited to reveal our lineup. Aside from the 60-plus companies launching products, we’ve got some amazing speakers and “sages,” who will be providing feedback to the companies launching products.

Reid Hoffman is best known for co-founding business social network LinkedIn, which went public this past May. Hoffman has also been called “angel extraordinaire,” and is a partner at Greylock Partners. Greylock has invested in Groupon, Pandora, and Facebook.

Bill Campbell, Intuit‘s chairman of the board of directors, is also known as the “coach” for entrepreneurs. Back in the day, he helped co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin with a little project: Google.

Box.net founder Aaron Levie decided to start his company as a college project to give people a way to access their files from anywhere. Now his company is taking off with a valuation at $550 million.

Geoffrey Moore is the entrepreneur’s advisor. He is managing director at TCG Advisors and partner at Mohr Davidow Ventures, not to mention a bestselling author. Moore will be talking about his new book, Escape Velocity, at DEMO and offering case studies for success.

Aileen Lee is a partner at venture capitalist firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers and is focused on digital consumer companies. She has worked with companies like Blue Nile, Friendster and Good Technology.

Christine Herron is a director at Intel Capital as well as a venture advisor at 500 Startups and advisor to SSE Labs. She has worked with technology successes stories like Mint, Get Satisfaction, and Double Verify.

Tom Gillis is the vice president and general manager of Cisco security technology. Aside from his security background, Gillis is also exploring how the mobile internet will change the way we work.

Google‘s head of mobile in America Jason Spero knows mobile advertising. Spero knows product, marketing and management in the mobile world from his years at AdMob, prior to being acquired by Google.

Larry Augustin, chief executive of customer relationship management company SugarCRM, was part of the group that coined the term “open source.” Prior to joining SugarCRM, Augustin was an angel investor for five years and founded VA Linux and was chief executive of SourceForge, which he lead through an initial public offering.

Matt Cohler is a partner at Benchmark Capital and has previously worked for Facebook and LinkedIn. Cohler has worked with companies like Instagram, Quora and Zendesk.

Bill Maris is a managing partner at Google Ventures. He had his own hands-on startup experience as founder of Web hosting site Burlee.com, which was acquired by Web.com

Shervin Pishevar is the managing director at Menlo Ventures. After his serial entrepreneur and angel investor days, when he was also founder of gaming company SGN, Pishevar joined Menlo to focus on social, consumer and mobile companies.

Satish Dharmaraj is the managing director for Redpoint Ventures. Before moving to the venture capital side, Dharmaraj founded Zimbra, an open source email software company. Zimbra was eventually purchased by Yahoo for $350 million.

Amobee cheif executive Trevor Healy joined VoIP company Jajah when it launched at DEMO in 2006. He became chief executive of the company and led it to acquisition three years later by Telefonica for $207 million.

Chuck Ganapathi recently became venture capitalist firm Accel Partners‘ Entrepreneur in Residence. Before Accel, Ganapathi created Salesforce‘s Chatter, a social network to accompany its customer relationship management service. He acted as vice president of product for both Chatter and mobile at Salesforce.

Paul Santinelli is a general partner at North Bridge Venture Partners and invests in open source, software, security, Internet applications, infrastructure and communications. He was previously director of open source technology company RedHat, a position he took after his company NOCpulse was acquired by RedHat.

TapJoy president and chief executive Mihir Shah brings 17 years of online advertising and gaming experience. Prior to TapJoe, Shah was vice president of ad network RockYou.

Nirav Tolia was previously the co-founder and chief executive of Epinions, a company that merged with Dealtime to create Shopping.com, where he served as chief operating officer until it was bought by eBay for $620 million. Now Tolia is starting a new company: Nextdoor.

Dana Stalder is a general partner at Matrix Partners investing in early stage software and Internet companies. Stalder has worked with companies like eBay, Paypal and Netscape, spanning sales, marketing, finance, technology and product management disciplines.

Founder Institute‘s chief executive Adeo Ressi knows the trials of finding funding. Ressi founded The Funded for entrepreneurs to research, rate, and review venture capitalist firms. Thus far, 12,000 chief executives use the service.

Dan’l Lewin works with startups and venture capitalists every day. Lewin is the corporate vice president for strategic and emerging business development at Microsoft and works to build partnerships. Lewis has been a Silicon Valley executive for more than 30 years.

Dave Gutelius is the chief social scientist at enterprise social network Jive Software, a title Gutelius earned after his startup Proximal Labs was bought by Jive. Jive recently filed to go public, sending Gutelius down the road to IPO.

Jeff Clavier is the founder and managing partner of SoftTech VC, an active seed stage investor firm. Clavier has invested in nearly 100 consumer startups in fields such as social media, monetization, search, and gaming.

Ellen Pao is a partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield and Byers focusing on consumer and enterprise service companies alike. She has worked with companies like Flipboard and Jive, which recently filed to go public. Pao also founded KPCB China’s investment arm.

Mike Brown was recently named Twitter‘s director of corporate development. Before moving to the 140 character lifestyle, Brown worked for Facebook in a similar role and was also an investor at Foundation Capital. You can find him at @mikeisbrown.

Dave McClure is a “super angel” and founder of seed-stage startup fund 500 Hats. McClure has a knack for product and marketing strategy and was previously the director of marketing for Paypal. He has invested in a number of companies including Mint, Twilio, and SlideShare.
