Electronic Arts has renewed its partnership with Coldwood Interactive, the creator of the quirky Unravel released earlier this year.

The deal shows that EA is still willing to work with smaller independent teams on games that aren’t blockbusters but still have a certain creative spark. Unravel drew kudos for its unique art style and zany Yarny character. It was the creation of Martin Sahlin, a developer with a small Swedish studio.

“The awesomely creative development team at Coldwood Interactive brought tiny, endearing Yarny to life,” said Patrick Söderlund, executive vice president of EA Studios, in a blog post. “And since then, it’s been quite incredible to see the community’s love for Yarny, both in the game and beyond.”

“At EA, we love working with creative and passionate development teams, in our own studios and our partners.  Which is why I’m very pleased to announce that we’ve signed a new agreement with Coldwood to work with them on their next project,” Söderlund said.
