Electronic Arts‘ sports game chief Peter Moore announced today that the next version of trick-snowboarding game SSX will debut in January, 2012.

The game is an important addition to EA’s sports game line-up, which is a billion-dollar-plus business for the company. This year, the game is all the more essential because there is no World Cup this year and it will be hard for EA Sports to match the revenue it had last year.

SSX is coming back after a hiatus, and it looks like EA has worked hard on getting the quality of the game up to snuff. You will be able check out the latest characters on EA’s new social network, Origin.com.

The remake of the classic crazy snowboarding game will give players a chance to snowboard in some of the world’s most dangerous places such as the Himalayas. You have to outrun avalanches, dive over cliffs to catch helicopters, and spin through the air to earn style points as you go.
