Elon Musk has taken to Twitter to clarify statements he made in an interview with Handelsblatt last month, in which he called Apple the “Tesla Graveyard.” Today he explained that he doesn’t hate the iPhone maker and called it “a great company with a lot of talented people.”

Right.

To be fair, in the Handelsblatt interview, Musk was talking about Apple’s electric vehicle, which is reportedly scheduled for a 2019 release. The Tesla chief executive fired shots when he described Apple as the place former Tesla engineers seem to land:

“They have hired people we’ve fired. We always jokingly call Apple the ‘Tesla Graveyard.’ If you don’t make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I’m not kidding.”

Musk also sought to clarify his remarks about the Apple Watch, after having implied that he doesn’t take the product seriously. In another tweet, he said that the design was beautifully done, adding that the functionality “isn’t compelling yet. By version 3, it will be.”
