Evernote is cleaning house, and its Hello and Peek apps are getting the axe, along with support for BlackBerry 7 and BlackBerry PlayBook, the company announced today.

The company will cut off support for these on Feb. 7, it said. Evernote’s iOS and Android apps have business card scanning features that can replace the Hello app, while partner StudyBlue provides a great alternative to Evernote Peek, which turns paper notes into digital study aids. It will continue to support — and will now focus on — BlackBerry 10.

Originally launched in late 2011, Hello was meant to help people better remember new acquaintances. It lets users create new contacts and give their profile a photo, scan their business card, jot down notes about how they met, and even wirelessly connect with other Hello users nearby.

Launched in mid-2011, the Peek app for iPad 2 digitizes notes and turns them into a study aid that makes use of the iPad’s smart cover. When you lift the cover a little bit, it shows you a question based on your notes. When you lift it a little more, it shows you the answer. The StudyBlue app is indeed a nice alternative, taking your Evernote notes and turning them into flashcards.
