Apple unveils the iPad Air 2
As rumored, Apple announced the iPad Air 2 today. The successor to the original iPad Air is the latest version of the company’s full-sized tablet.
The iPad Air 2 is 18 percent thinner than the original iPad Air, and Apple claims it is the world’s thinnest tablet (two iPad Air 2s on top of each other are thinner than the original iPad). More specifically, it is just 6.1 mm thick.

The iMac goes Retina
Apple today announced a new version of the iMac with a “Retina Display,” its marketing term for screens that are so sharp you can’t see individual pixels.
The new iMac’s 27-inch screen features a ridiculously high 5120-by-2880 screen, which Apple is calling the “Retina 5K” display. It will sell for $2,499, starting with a 4 GHz Core i7 processor and a powerful Radeon R9 graphics card.
Apple upgrades the Mac mini, drops price to $499
As previously rumored, today Apple launched an upgraded Mac mini, featuring 4th-generation Intel Core processors, two Thunderbolt ports, and updated Intel Iris graphics. Key to today’s Mac mini upgrade is the price: The device is now $100 cheaper, retailing at $499.
According to Apple, the new Mac mini “now features … integrated graphics that are up to 90 percent faster” than previous versions.
Apple launches iPad mini 3
Apple today announced the iPad mini 3, an upgraded 7.9-inch iPad mini tablet, now available in gold. Apple shares that the iPad mini 3 will retail for $399 with 16 GB of storage, $499 for 64 GB of storage, and $599 for 128 GB of storage.
And with today’s update, the older iPad mini 2 is now available for $100 less, starting at $249.
Apple’s OS X Yosemite is finally available today
Apple announced that Yosemite will be available for download today for free on the Mac App Store. Yosemite is a more significant upgrade than last year’s OS X Mavericks, adding several new features that allows Macs to work together with iOS devices.
Apple Pay to launch Oct. 20, signs up 500 new banks
Apple announced today that Apple Pay will launch on Monday, October 20. Tim Cook says that Apple has signed another 500 banks that will integrate with the technology.
Apple Watch SDK ‘WatchKit’ rolls out next month
Today Apple announced that its WatchKit SDK is rolling out next month to developers. Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date set for a consumer Apple Watch launch. The wearable is set to launch sometime in 2015.
Apple announces iOS 8.1: Camera Roll returns, the masses get Apple Pay
Today Apple announced iOS 8.1, an update designed to resolve the many issues users encountered when upgrading to iOS 8.0. Apple shares that the iOS 8.1 update introduces support for Apple Pay — its new mobile payments service — and a new universal “iCloud iPhoto Library” that syncs full-size photos across devices using iCloud storage. The Camera Roll also returns to iOS with the iOS 8.1 update.
Apple announces 170M iPads sold, 675,000 iPad apps in App Store
At its event today, Apple announced it has now sold over 255 million iPads in total. The company also revealed its App Store now has over 675,000 apps optimized for tablets.
