Locaid, a Location-as-a-Service (LaaS) startup, has closed $4.05 million in new funding, according to an SEC filing released today.
The company specializes in providing location-based API services for its enterprise and consumer-facing business clients, who can then pinpoint where users or devices are across the globe. The service itself can be utilized for a broad range of tasks including consumer insights for marketing and advertising, asset protection, device authentication, device tracking, and more. The service is utilized through over 415 million mobile devices, such as those from AT&T, Bell, Boost Mobile, Cricket, Rogers, Sprint, TELUS, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others. VentureBeat previously reported on Locaid’s LaaS launch back in 2012.
The new funding came from InterSouth Partners, H.I.G. Ventures, Florida Growth Fund, and others.
