After creating the “personal newspaper” of Mark Zuckerberg’s dreams, Facebook is launching a newswire service that aggregates “newsworthy content shared publicly on Facebook by individuals and organizations.”
Powered by Storyful, a tool that helps publications identify valid news on social media, Facebook Newswire is remarkably low-tech; it takes the form of both a dedicated Facebook page and a Twitter account (that’s right, a Twitter account).
Here’s a sample of Facebook’s “new resource for journalists:”
AI Weekly
The must-read newsletter for AI and Big Data industry written by Khari Johnson, Kyle Wiggers, and Seth Colaner.
Included with VentureBeat Insider and VentureBeat VIP memberships.
And on Twitter:

Facebook wants to prove it’s capable of surfacing breaking news … and yet it’s using Twitter to do it. We’re scratching our heads, but as a news-hounds, we’ll play along and give the Newswire a try.
