Amid a series of announcements today, Facebook introduced a handful of new features to its Origami prototyping tool. Perhaps most importantly, the service now enables designers to preview and test their designs directly on an iOS device.
In case you haven’t heard of Origami before, Facebook’s service allows designers to build somewhat sophisticated user interfaces (UIs) without having to develop full-fledged apps. It’s not entirely unlike Adobe’s Edge Inspect CC, although Adobe’s Edge tools fixate on the web.
In addition to the new iPhone/iPad testing feature (dubbed Origami Live), Facebook launched a plugin that syncs designs from Bohemian Coding’s Sketch. In a blog post announcing the news, Facebook says its tool was used to “design many of our products including Instagram, Messenger, Paper, Slingshot, Hyperlapse, and Rooms.”
Rounding out the updates, Facebook also refreshed Origami’s Github page with a number of tutorials. The social network is clearly itching to put the tool in more hands.
