Feedly’s $5/month Pro service passes 60K subscribers, $12 Team edition coming soon

Popular RSS news reader app Feedly says its $5/month Pro service, which is faster and includes extra integrations, has passed 60,000 paying subscribers—two years after it was launched.

Feedly Pro was rolled out back in 2013 in a push for improved secure browsing and better article searches — but not everyone immediately fell in love with it. Nonetheless, the Pro version has been called one of the best alternatives to the now-defunct Google Reader.

While Feedly’s basic free RSS reader offers unlimited feeds, is available on mobile and desktop, and allows users to organize feeds into easy-to-read collections and to share stories to Twitter, Pinterest, and Facebook, Feedly Pro comes with quite a few additional integrations.

These include shared collections, power search, new stories 10x faster, the option to save to Evernote, Pocket, and OneNote, the ability to share to LinkedIn, Hootsuite, and Buffer, and Dropbox support. Pro subscribers can also push content to other applications with IFTTT and Zapier, and enjoy premium support.

Thanks to all the income Pro services has generated for Feedly, the company says it will make a few key pushes, including building out more servers.

“The Feedly cloud is connected to 42,000,000 feeds of information, receiving about 50,000,000 new stories every day,” the company said in a blog posting. “We are adding servers to the Feedly Cloud to store, organize, and index all of this information so that we can continue to serve you Feedly very fast.”

Currently, Feedly users can log in to the service with their Google, Facebook, Twitter, Microsoft, and Evernote handles, but Feedly also says it is adding support for Slack and Office 365 logins. Beyond that, it’s actually working to create a dedicated Feedly login — at the request of users.

Feedly is also going to be rolling out shared tags, filtering, saved search, noise reduction, better Slack integration, improvements to the iOS app (specifically to reduce crashes), and a $12/month Team edition that it is still testing (you can request a demo here).

Team edition will offer everything that Pro users already enjoy (as listed above), plus a slew of other benefits: Enterprise login (SAML), new stories up to 50x faster, full Slack integration, deeper integration with Google News, search in partial feeds, the ability to curate stories with shared tags, planning and collaboration with Trello and Office 365, and group billing.
