Photo-hosting platform Flickr has launched a new extension for Chrome that presents a fresh photo each time you open a new tab in Google’s browser.

Flickr Tab is simple but does bring a little extra pizzazz to new tabs, and you can also click on a photo to view it directly on Flickr and look at more images from that uploader. The Yahoo-owned company is emulating a recent launch from Google itself, when the Internet giant introduced the Google Art Project extension, which serves up a classic piece of art every time you open a new tab.

Yahoo has experienced something of a rejuvenation since Marissa Mayer took over at the CEO helm almost three years ago. While acquisitions have played a significant part of this, Mayer has also been focused on revitalizing its existing products — and this includes Flickr.

With the relaunch of its weather app back in 2013, Yahoo drew on photos from the Flickr community to help bring the app to life, highlighting weather-related snaps relevant to the conditions where each individual uploader is. The first Flickr app for iPad finally launched last year, too.
