Flipboard has been integrated into Facebook Messenger to help users share articles with their friends. When something is shared, you’ll see a detailed preview link, which shows the article’s title and an accompanying image. When the link is clicked, the article will open in Flipboard.

This isn’t the first time that Flipboard has done a tie-up with a messenger service: it previously has had a relationship with China-based WeChat to do the exact same thing it’s doing here. The only difference is that this time Flipboard has opted to leverage the social networking company’s Messenger SDK to provide a deeper integration. With WeChat, you only saw a link to the article, whereas the Facebook Messenger integration offers up more context.

In order to take advantage of this feature, you’re going to need to have at least version 3.3.10 of Flipboard installed. Find a story you want to share with your friends, customize the message, and hit send. Those who have Flipboard installed will be able to instantly view the article in the app, those who don’t will be prompted to download the app.
