TERRANEA RESORT, Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. — Lisa Jackson, the former administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will soon be joining Apple, the company’s chief executive Tim Cook announced in an onstage chat at the All Things Digital conference today.
[aditude-amp id="flyingcarpet" targeting='{"env":"staging","page_type":"article","post_id":746332,"post_type":"story","post_chan":"none","tags":null,"ai":false,"category":"none","all_categories":"business,","session":"D"}']Jackson, who was nominated by President Barack Obama in 2008 and served from 2009 until earlier this year, will oversee Apple’s environmental efforts, including its moves to manufacture less-toxic and more energy-efficient products. Cook said she will also oversee the company’s efforts to make its facilities run more energy efficiently.
Apple, as Cook pointed out, has taken an early lead in making its products “green,” by removing toxic chemicals and by making them use less power. He said Apple also owns the largest solar power “farm” in the country, outside of utilities.
