Coupa raises $80M and hits the $1B valuation

Cloud-based provider Coupa Software announced today it raised $80 million in a round led by T. Rowe Price Associates and Iconiq Capital. The round brings up the total funds raised by Caupa to $165 million. Coupa Software said the latest round lets the company “join the list of Silicon Valley unicorns.”

Home security startup Canary raises $30M

Today New York-based Canary announced a $30 million raise led by Walden Riverwood Ventures. Khosla Ventures and Two Sigma Ventures also participated in the round, among others.

Facebook alum Avinash Lakshman raises $18M for his cloud storage startup

Hedvig, a storage platform created by the database engineer behind Facebook’s Cassandra, Avinash Lakshman, announced today it raised $18 million in series B funding. The round was led by Vertex Ventures, whose general partner In Sik Rhee joined the board.

True Partners and Atlantic Bridge Capital also participated in the new round.

Brazil’s food delivery service, iFood, raises $50M

iFood, a popular Brazilian food delivery service, received $50 million from Latin American app maker Movile and U.K.-based online takeout platform Just Eat for its new funding round, the companies announced today. Movile controls 60 percent of iFood and has been involved with Just Eat in all of iFood’s fundings, except for its series A round, reported TechCrunch.

Online investment platform Propel(x) announces $1.5M raise led by Lending Club

Propel(x), an online investment platform that connects “deep technology” startups with investors, announced today it raised $1.5 million in seed funding. The round was led by senior executives atLending Club. Propel(x) said it plans to use the funds to grow its investor base and build its community of experts.

Other investors include IDG Capital Partners, Zhen Fund, TEEC Angels, TBN Network, and CLI Group.

Yhat, a company formerly part of Y Combinator, takes in $1.5M

Y Combinator-backed company Yhat announced today that it raised $1.5 million in its latest funding round. The company’s originally planned to raise $1 million, however, the over subscribed round attracted Scribd’s co-founder Tikhon Bernstam, Twitch’s founder Justin Kan, and over 20 more investors, TechCrunch reported.

Hipster Whale uses part of its Crossy Road millions to fund Halfbrick vets’ studio

Crossy Road makers hop Down Under to Prettygreat with a $500,000 seed round.

Hipster Whale, the creators of popular mobile game Crossy Road, have backed Australian mobile games startup Prettygreat in an early round of funding. Prettygreat is made up of top players from mobile studio Halfbrick, best known for hits such as Jetpack Joyride and Fruit Ninja. Hipster Whale’s two members, Matt Hall and Andy Sum, will become shareholders and advisers to the company. The group will benefit from the expertise of Hall and Sum — the Australian duo guided its Frogger-like game Crossy Road to 90 million downloads in six months.
