GSR launches $5B investment fund
Chinese firm GSR Capital announced a new $5 billion mergers and acquisition fund.
GRS said that the fund “will target international investment opportunities in qualified leading enterprises in sectors including clean energy, bio-pharmaceutics and life sciences, bulk commodity investment, traditional and internet finance, wireless communication, and cultural industry.”
Sonny Wu, co-founder of GSR Ventures and chairman of GSR Capital, will lead the “industry leaders” managing the funds.

Used cars “broker and auctioneer” CarPrice snags $40M
CarPrice, a Russian website for used cars, announced that it had raised a $40 million round led by Baring Vostok Private Equity Fund V. The company said that the funds will be used for international expansion and footprint expansion in many new regions of Russia.

Bregal Sagemount gives $35M to mobile management startup Mobi
Mobile management startup Mobi announced today that it raised $35 million from Bregal Sagemount and that the firm’s founding partner, Daniel Kim, will join Mobi’s board.

Ecoevent raises $6.9M round for its room climate control system
Ecoevent, a company that creates what it calls “the only intelligent home zoning system” to regulate room-by-room climate, announced today that it closed its Series A round. The startup raised a $6.9 million investment led by Emerson Climate Technologies.
The startup said that it already has more than $1 million in pre-orders for its product, which is supposedly “transforming the home by giving consumers control over their comfort in every room.”
Tamarisc and Blue Fog Capital also participated in the round.
