BlaBlaCar smashes France’s VC record with $200M round, $1.6B valuation

BlaBlaCar, the Paris-based ride-sharing service, announced today an astonishing funding round of $200 million.

The amount blew past reports last week that the funding round would come in at $160 million.

BlaBlaCar, founded in 2006, is now valued at $1.6 billion. Having grown to cover much of Europe, the company has been expanding into markets such as Russia, Turkey, and India.

Germany’s HelloFresh raises $85M, values Rocket Internet company at $2.9B

Hello Fresh, the Berlin-based company that delivers meal kits and recipes to subscribers, announced today that it has raised another $85 million.

The company, which is a product of Germany’s Rocket Internet’s startup factory, had previously raised $149 million back in February, primarily from Rocket. This time, the round was led by Baillie Gifford, a Scottish investment firm.

According to HelloFresh, its valuation is now $2.9 billion, up from $680 million after the last round. On paper, that gives Europe one more unicorn to brag about.

Barcelona’s Typeform lands $15M to revolutionize forms for a touchscreen world

After getting off to a fast start, Barcelona-based Typeform announced today that it has raised $15 million in its first official round of funding.

The round was led by Index Ventures, but also includes Point Nine Capital, Connect Ventures, and RTA Ventures. In addition, there were a handful of individual investors: Anthony Casalena, chief executive of Squarespace; Javier Olivan, vice president of growth at Facebook; Jay Parikh, global head of engineering and infrastructure at Facebook; and Riccardo Zacconi, chief executive of King.

Dwnld raises $12M to help non-coders turn their websites into native mobile apps

Dwnld, a build-your-own-app startup from early Pinterest investor Fritz Lanman and Alexandra Keating, has raised $12 million from Greylock Partners.

Dwnld had raised $2 million before today’s announcement, and claims to have helped publish 2,000 mobile apps to date, covering “media companies, YouTube stars, and individual bloggers,” the company said.
