Jawbone confirms $165M funding round and president Samat’s departure to Google

Jawbone has raised a new round of funding, bringing in $165 million from The Kuwait Investment Authority to fund its operations. The company also revealed that president Sameer Samat will be leaving to take another job at Google. However, he’ll remain associated with Jawbone both as an advisor and investor.

Previous investors in Jawbone include Andreessen Horowitz, BlackRock, Deutsche Telekom, JP Morgan, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Sequoia Capital, Silver Lake Partners, SV Angel, and Wells Fargo. To date, it has raised more than $890 million in funding.

Mobile data startup MParticle closes $15 million investment

New York-based startup MParticle announced earlier this week that it took in a $15 million series A investment led by Social Capital. MParticle, which collects consumer data for mobile marketers and developers, said that the investment will be used to accelerate its technology development and open a new office in San Francisco.

Bowery Capital, Eniac Ventures, and Golden Ventures also joined the round. Social Capital’s Ted Maidenberg joined MParticle’s board following the deal.

Boomerang Commerce raises $12M led by Shasta ventures

Analytics tool for retailers Boomerang Commerce closed a $12 million round, the company announced yesterday. Shasta Ventures led the series B funding, while Madrona Venture Group and Trinity Ventures followed.

To date, Boomerang Commerce has raised $20.5 million in funds.

MindTouch snags $12M round

MindTouch, a SaaS startup that provides customer management for enterprises, announced yesterday that it closed a $12 million investment led by PeakSpan Capital. The San Diego-based startup said that it will use the series A funding round to hire new talent and integrate with Salesforce, SAP, and Oracle.

SK Ventures and SAP SE also invested in this round.
