WordPress hosting specialist WP Engine scores $23M

WP Engine, a startup that hosts websites based on the open-source WordPress content-management system, said today that it’s taken on $23 million in new funding.

The news follows word of several other hosting companies getting funded lately, including AcquiaDigitalOcean, Pantheon, Squarespace, Weebly, and Automattic, the company behind WordPress itself. Existing investor North Bridge Venture Partners led the new round in WP Engine. To date the startup has raised $41.2 million.

Storage startup Hedvig comes out of stealth mode with $12.5M

Hedvig, a startup that has built software for creating block, object, and file storage on a variety of data center infrastructures, today emerged from stealth mode and announced that it has taken on $12.5 million in funding. Atlantic Bridget Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and True Ventures participated. Hedvig customers include Intuit, according to a statement today.

Teabox brews $6M to grow its tea delivery service globally

Tea is the second most consumed beverage in the world, after water, which may go some way towards explaining the success of Teabox, a company that’s just secured $6 million in fresh funding. The round is being led by JAFCO Asia, with participation from Accel Partners and others.
