Gawker.com to ‘end operations’ after Peter Thiel lawsuit

Peter Thiel got his wish.

Today Gawker announced that the company’s namesake site Gawker.com “will be shutting down next week” following a ruinous lawsuit secretly financed by PayPal cofounder and billionaire investor Peter Thiel. Gawker Media’s other properties are expected to live on under the supervision of Univision.
