Geofeedia, a social media intelligence platform, raised $3.5 million in venture funding today.
Without question, Geofeedia has the potential as a game changer. That’s because its software filters, analyzes, and then geolocates your social media postings, all in real time, in any town, city, or country. In other words, anything you post on Twitter or Instagram, for example, is tagged, with your name on it, for the world to see.
From there, users of the software (which include the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and Dell) can group the postings in real time, allowing customers to both visualize and analyze the data. Users search for a city, address, or location name, literally encircling that position within a virtual perimeter, and the data mining begins.
“Location-based social media monitoring is transforming the way organizations obtain and respond to intelligence. From marketing and security at the largest mall in the United States to enabling law enforcement to protect more lives, prevent crime, and react quickly to crisis, Geofeedia is providing actionable insights that powerfully impact security and brand engagement,” Geofeedia’s chief executive Phil Harris said in a release.
