Gone app helps you sell your belongings without a yard sale

Today, Gone launched its app for iOS in Austin and San Francisco to help people get rid of their unwanted belongings.

If you have an iOS device, you can download Gone to begin adding photos and a brief product description of the item you want to sell. Once the app has your information, Gone pricing experts reply with a message that includes the best price possible for the item.

Once you agree to the sale price, a Gone representative drops off a box for packaging the item. A Gone expert takes the item away for you if it doesn’t fit into a box — you don’t have to worry about the shipping process. Gone saves time, effort, and the hassle of hosting a yard sale to get rid of unwanted household items.

“If it were as easy to sell your stuff as it is to buy it all, we would all be a little richer, and that’s precisely why we created the Gone app,” said Gone CEO and co-founder Nicolas Bayerque. “No matter the item, we will get you the best price and, if the item can’t be resold for cash, Gone will find another solution that will unlock as much value as possible.”

When an item does not sell on Gone, the app helps you arrange a donation or recycling pickup. You can are eligible for a tax credit in the event that Gone helps you donate your item after it fails to sell.

Gone is limited to San Francisco and Austin at the moment, which it considers to be “tech-savvy” cities. It is encouraging Twitter users to tweet “#BringGoneToYourCity” to help it decide where to launch next.

Gone is backed by industry investors including TechStars, David Cohen’s Bullet Time Ventures, Cygnus Capital, Nxtp.Labs, and Socialatom Ventures, as well as Angel investors from the San Francisco and Austin areas.
