Google today announced a refresh for its popular Maps application for mobile devices to follow in its new Material design theme.

The move, announced in a blog post this morning, follows recent previews of new Material-style Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar apps, as well as the new Inbox email app.

The redesign features more bright colors and flat lines than ever before. But the revamp doesn’t stop there.

One cool new feature in the new versions of Google Maps for iPhone and the Android Lollipop operating system: the ability to reserve a table at a restaurant right from within the app, so long as the restaurants are listed in OpenTable. The feature only works in the U.S. for the moment.
