Google Shopping Express is rebranding itself “Google Express” today. It will also be rolling out its same-day and next-day delivery service to Chicago, Boston, and Washington D.C. the company said in a blog post.
Google Express has built partnerships over the last several months with national vendors including 1-800-Flowers, Barnes & Noble, Nine West, PetSmart, Vitamin Shoppe, and Sports Authority. Google has also partnered with regional businesses like New York’s Paragon Sports. In total, Express has added 16 new brands to its on-demand delivery service.

The Internet giant is pushing its new $95 annual membership, strikingly similar to Amazon Prime. Those who choose not to become members can pay $4.99 per order.

Google first rolled out its on-demand shopping service last year in limited parts of San Francisco. Since the initial trial, Google Shopping Express has expanded to all of San Francisco as well as to New York and Los Angeles. The company competes with on-demand delivery startups like WunWun and Postmates.
