Google’s Inbox now lets you snooze emails until later this week, or this weekend

Google today announced some tweaks to its Inbox by Gmail email client. There are two new time options available if you’d like to snooze an email and see it pop up in the inbox at a better time: “Later this week” and “This weekend.”

“These new options should hopefully save you some time, and decrease the need to use custom snooze,” Google software engineer Michael Landry wrote in a blog post.

Inbox will also allow you to set the specific weekend day for any emails you snooze till the weekend. You can even have Inbox surface those emails on days other than Saturday or Sunday, which can come in handy for anyone whose “weekend” falls midweek.

Google launched Inbox in October 2014, and the snooze feature arrived in July 2015. The service received another interesting update in November — Smart Reply — which offers short, pre-generated responses to email that allow you to get back to someone with just a tap.

Not all of Gmail’s billion-plus active users are using Inbox. But as the app becomes increasingly flexible and continues to blow past the standards people have come to expect since Google introduced Gmail in 2004, the service stands to become more widely used.

The snooze updates will be rolling out over the next few days, Landry wrote.
