Here's how the International Space Station celebrates the World Cup (video)

While the crew of the International Space Station may be secluded in space, that doesn’t mean they aren’t paying attention to this week’s World Cup festivities in Brazil.

As you can see from the video embedded below, German astronaut Alexander Gerst and U.S. astronauts Reid Wiseman (who sent the first Vine from space) and Steve Swanson decided to kick off the worldwide sporting event by playing a game of soccer — in zero-g, of course.

Yes, this is just astronauts having a bit of fun, but I look forward to the day when soccer is made far more interesting by removing gravity (a cross between full-gravity soccer and the zero-g game new recruits have to play in Ender’s Game).
