If you still prefer the reliability of hotels to Airbnb, then Yelp and travel site Hipmunk have a little treat for you. Today Hipmunk joined Yelp’s invite-only platform, enabling Yelp users to book hotels directly from “tens of thousands” of hotel review pages in the U.S.
This integration is nothing new for Yelp. Existing Yelp platform partners include Open Table, Delivery.com, Eat24, and Booker. But this deal could move the needle for Hipmunk. By partnering with Yelp, Hipmunk could drive additional sales — something investors in Hipmunk’s recent $20 million funding round would probably like to see.
In a canned quote, Hipmunk chief Adam Goldstein called Yelp “a like-minded brand in a different industry.”
Certain Yelp pages now display a “book a room” section (pictured below). Click on the “show prices” button and you’ll find yourself at a page like this one.
