Holy remasters, Batman: PS4, Xbox One get two Arkham games in one package

Hello, bats!

It’s not the bundle we deserve, but it’s the bundle we … well, I don’t know if we need it. But it’ll be nice to have.

Warner Bros. is releasing enhanced versions of the first two Batman Arkham games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Return to Arkham debuts July 26 and includes all of the downloadable content created for the action games. This is easy money for Warner Bros., since it can release a new product without having to go through the expensive process of making a new game. While some gamers don’t care for this practice, remasters do have a benefit — getting older games in front of players who may have never tried them before.

And who doesn’t want a chance to listen to Mark Hamill take a break from his main gig as Luke Skywalker to portray The Joker, a voice role he’s performed (and perfected) for TV programs and games since Batman: The Animated Series‘ debut in 1992.

Arkham Asylum originally came out in 2009, with Arkham City following in 2011. Fans and critics loved both games (which originally came out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) for their faithfulness to the Batman franchise and satisfying, combo-based combat. The bundle does not include Arkham Origins, the only game in the series that Rocksteady didn’t develop. The last entry in the series, Arkham Knight, came out last year for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

We’ve seen plenty of these remastered versions of PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games on the newer consoles. Everything from Gears of War, Dishonored, Tomb Raider, and the Uncharted trilogy has made the jump.
