Integrating Siri technology into cars means there will probably be fewer “assholes on their cellphones” during your daily commute to work, and more regular “assholes.” Also, the technology does other useful stuff, like letting you control your iPhone or iPad without having to actually look at the device’s screen.

When driving, Siri will operate in “Eyes Free” mode. And some of the things you’ll be able to do include controlling music in iTunes, toggling between the phone’s audio and AM/FM radio, schedule appointments, look up sports scores, and buy movie tickets. One thing you can’t do is ask Siri to pull up a website, since that requires using your eyes for something other than concentrating on the road.

Honda said the Siri integration will be available in the 2013 models of its Honda Accord, Acura RDX and Acura ILX later this year. Right now, we don’t know if the integration will tack on any additional charges when you buy the car, but it does seem likely.

Apple first announced that it was working with automakers on Siri integration last year when it debuted iOS 6. Since then it has reached agreements to integrate the technology into vehicles produced by GM, BMW, Hyundai, and others.
