The rumor keeps coming back. Leak after leak suggests Google will be releasing two new Nexus phones running Android M later this year, a 5.2-inch device made by LG and a larger 5.7-inch phablet from Huawei. The latest leaks once again point to powerful Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 successors.
First up, the Huawei specifications have leaked again. This time, they come from infamous leaker Evan Blass (evleaks), who says the upcoming Huawei Nexus phone will feature a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440) display, a Snapdragon 820 processor, a metal body, and a fingerprint reader. Oh, and he adds that it will ship in Q4 2015.

Ships Q4.

The Nexus 6 has a resolution of 2560 x 1440, so this wouldn’t be much of a surprise. Android M features native fingerprint reader support (all Android fingerprint readers until now used software developed by OEMs), so it makes sense for a Nexus phone to showcase the functionality.

As for the LG device, we’ve heard before that it might have a Snapdragon 808 processor and 2700mAh battery (as opposed to the Huawei phone’s alleged 3500mAh battery). Now, the latest leak suggests it will offer quite the performance.
The Russian website Mobiltelefon claims to have obtained benchmark results that show LG and Google are once again hoping to build a true successor to the Nexus 5 they built two years ago. On this AnTuTu score leak, the rumored LG Nexus 5 2015 was able to obtain a score of 85,530 points:
This is quite the achievement when compared to existing flagship devices. The Samsung Galaxy S6, which is the best-performing smartphone so far this year (at least in terms of benchmarking scores), has a score of 68,157 points in regular mode and 52,665 points in power-saving mode.
If this benchmark leak is accurate, we find it difficult to believe that LG’s upcoming Nexus phone is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor. Unless there are some significant performance improvements in Android M, the rumored device may sport an even newer mobile chipset.
