The Weather Channel unveiled its Facebook Messenger bot today. The bot provides five-day forecasts, daily forecasts, severe weather alerts, or creates custom weather alerts. The Weather Channel bot can speak 39 languages and can be found on The Weather Channel Facebook page.

Weather.com is one of the most popular websites in the United States, according to Alexa page rankings. The Weather Company, owner of The Weather Channel, is an IBM business.

“Leveraging IBM Watson Natural Language Classifier and Alchemy Language APIs, over time the bot will learn a user’s preferences to deliver weather-related content specific to their individual interests,” said an IBM spokesperson in a statement shared with VentureBeat. “Using the natural language and machine learning capabilities of IBM Watson — as a person continuously engages with the bot — it will make recommendations, predict, and initiate conversations to provide a more personalized experience.”

Though The Weather Channel bot is able to operate on virtually every continent around the world, some features like severe weather alerts are only available to Messenger users in the U.S., Canada, and Western Europe.
