Jay Eum, the head of the U.S. office of Samsung Ventures, the venture arm of the Korean company Samsung, is leaving to form his own venture capital firm.
A source informed VentureBeat last week of the news, but it was confirmed yesterday when Eum sent out a note to contacts, saying this was his last week, and that he and a couple of partners will start an “early expansion stage venture fund focused on connecting US start-ups in the mobile, communications and digital media sectors to their early adopter customers in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.”
