Today Kickstarter announced the launch of a new page called Spotlight, which will showcase projects that were successfully funded on Kickstarter.

The new feature basically replaces the static page that remains on Kickstarter after a project is funded. Now, project founders will have a webpage featured on Spotlight, designed to allow a company or project to tell a story about how its product came to be and how it got funded. Companies can also list all their updated contact information as well as Twitter and Facebook page details.

Most importantly, it gives project owners full control over the look and feel of the page. From a design perspective, Spotlight is a lot more attractive than anything else that Kickstarter has pushed out.

For startups, companies, and individuals it’s almost like a second website. For Kickstarter it’s another way to build its community — around content rather than projects.
