IBM began selling its first laptops in 1992, and it sold off its PC division to Lenovo in 2004. Lenovo has become the No. 1 PC maker in the world, with a 20 percent market share. It is No. 3 in tablets, No. 3 in servers, and No. 3 in smartphones. The company’s strategy is to create a portfolio of devices that adapt to you. The latest laptops have screens that can be set for different usage patterns, ranging from presentations to entertainment.

Andrew Barrow, director of product marketing at Lenovo, said in a press briefing that Lenovo is aiming to deliver a “total experience” across its products, including those that go beyond the traditional PC.

“We know what not to mess with,” Barrow said.

One of the newest laptops for consumers is the Yoga 3, a touchscreen convertible laptop that will come in a new thinner size and more colors than previous models. It comes with an 11-inch or 14-inch full HD screen, Intel fifth-generation Core m processors on the 11-inch and the Core i on the 14-inch. It has up to seven hours of battery life and up to 256 gigabytes of solid-state storage. It weighs less than 3.5 pounds and comes in black, orange, white, and silver.

The Yoga series of laptops was introduced in 2012, with different modes for usage. It was a convertible laptop, with a detachable screen that you could use as a tablet. You could also use it as a laptop, or view it in presentation mode while standing it upright. The device has intelligent Harmony software that shows you your most frequently used apps upon startup.

Lenovo also has the ThinkPad Yoga family of laptops for business customers, with 12-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch models. Those laptops use fifth-generation Intel Core i processors, Nvidia graphics options (in the two larger machines), and will be 19 millimeters thick. They will weigh less than 3.5 pounds and will accommodate up to 512 gigabytes of solid state storage.

Another new laptop is the Flex 3, with 11-inch, 14-inch, and 15-inch models. It starts at $300 and is available in white and black, and the 14-inch is also available in red.

Lenovo is also launching its U31 and U41 laptops. Each is 19 millimeters thick and weighs less than four pounds. Lenovo is also introducing its C series all-in-one computers, ranging in screen size from 19.5 inches to 23 inches.

Additionally, Lenovo expects to sell more than 100 million smartphones in the coming year, thanks in part to its acquisition of Motorola.

It is unveiling new tablets, including its 8-inch Yoga Tablet 2 with Anypen. That allows any pen or pencil to be used as a stylus, which helps when you lose the stylus that came with your tablet, said Barrow. (The pencil has to be at least one-millimeter thick to work).

It has a full HD screen, is 2.7 millimeters thick, weighs less than a pound, and has up to 15 hours of battery life. It uses an Intel Atom processor.

For smartphones, Lenovo is introducing the Vibe X2 Pro. It is bigger, faster, and better than the previous Vibe X2 launched this year. It has a full metal back and an all-metal layered design.

Craig Bond, Lenovo’s lead for worldwide product communications for consumer smartphones, said in a press briefing that the smartphone is designed for fashion trend setters among younger generations. It has a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with eight cores, a 5.3-inch full HD screen with wide viewing angles, and dual 13-megapixel cameras.

“That means you get selfies as good as your snaps,” Bond said.

Lenovo is also introducing its P90 smartphone with an Intel Z3560 Atom processor and Intel’s new LTE Advanced modem. It has a 5.5-inch full HD display, 2 gigabytes of RAM, and 32 gigabytes of on-board storage.

“It’s designed for an always-on lifestyle,” Bond said.

Lastly, Lenovo is launching its smartwatch: the Vibe Band VB10. The device tracks your fitness data via an app that syncs to your smartphone.
