Lyft’s Line service is now available in more cities in the U.S. The company announced today that its more affordable ridesharing option will be coming to six more metropolitan areas by April 15 — Seattle, Denver, Philadelphia, San Diego, New Jersey, and Silicon Valley.
Launched in 2014, Lyft Line is a service that connects you with people going in the same direction so you can split the price of the trip. It’s aimed at cost-conscious riders and goes up against UberPool, a similar offering by its fiercest competitor. Prior to today, it was available in San Francisco, Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, Washington, D.C., and New York.

With the addition of these new regions, Lyft Line now operates in the eight cities with the worst traffic in the country, according to Lyft.

The company has been making in-roads (no pun intended) against Uber lately, while also helping give passengers more convenient options. Today’s announcement comes just days after the launch of Lyft Carpool, which pairs commuters with drivers who happen to have empty seats.
“Lyft’s mission is to make our communities better by bringing positive change to transportation – Lyft Line is the heart of that movement,” Green said in a statement. “We are growing and scaling at an incredible pace, which means that we can offer Lyft Line in more markets. Today’s news means that we now offer 25 percent of Americans the option to affordably share their rides through Lyft Line, which means fewer cars on the road across the U.S.”
Lyft Line service should begin in these six new cities by April 15.
