No industry or civilization ever changed without a handful of great leaders to serve as inspiration to the many, to give concrete aspirations to those who would join them and take their place.

Women, wymyn, wimmin — however you want to spell it, the tech world has scores of female leaders we can look up to, not just the most headline-making two or three.

We tend to focus on the most visible people of that particular genre: Yahoo’s Marissa Mayer, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, those who carry their significant clout into mainstream media and the larger business culture. But there’s a world of female intelligence, corporate prowess, and thoughtful management beyond them.
