Microsoft releases new Windows 10 preview for PCs with ability to use iPods as storage devices

Microsoft today announced the release of a new Windows 10 build for PCs and mobile for people participating in the fast ring of the Windows Insider Program.

Build 14393 for both PC and Windows 10 Mobile arrives three days after the release of build 14390 for both types of devices.

As Microsoft is close to releasing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, it’s not surprising to see very few changes. Today’s build makes the Start menu, the Action Center, and Cortana more reliable, Dona Sarkar, a software engineer in Microsoft’s Windows and Devices Group, wrote in a blog post.

Also, users can now use their iPods “as USB mass-storage devices,” Sarkar wrote.

As far as new known issues go, this build has only one, and it’s only for two devices. “We are aware of certain cases in which Surface Books and Surface Pro 4’s may bugcheck (bluescreen) due to a camera driver issue,” Sarkar wrote. A fix will come in Windows Update “soon,” she wrote.
