After holding its premier Build developer conference in San Francisco for the past four years, Microsoft is bringing it back to its home court of western Washington in 2017.
The event — which is traditionally packed with news on all of Microsoft’s big businesses — will take place in Seattle, as opposed to Microsoft’s hometown of Redmond, just on the other side of Lake Washington, on May 10-12, Microsoft chief marketing officer and executive vice president Chris Capossela wrote in a blog post. Microsoft has not yet started registering people for the event.
Microsoft’s Worldwide Partner Conference is getting a new name: Microsoft Inspire. It’s returning to Washington D.C. on July 9-13 after being held in Toronto this year.
Also Microsoft is merging its Envision conference — which itself had its name changed from Convergence earlier this year — with its Ignite conference. It will be held on September 25-29. Capossela didn’t identify the location for the event. This year Ignite was in Orlando, while Envision was in New Orleans.
