Misfit, which makes the Shine and Flash health wearables, today announced Misfit Link, a software upgrade that turns the Misfit Flash into a simple remote control for your camera or music player.
You can use your Flash to shoot a selfie with your phone camera app or Snapchat, Misfit said, or control your music (pause, play, skip songs, adjust the volume) on services like Spotify or Pandora.
The company also announced a new activity tracker and “smart button” — the Misfit Flash Link — that is designed with the remote control functionality baked in. The device costs $20 and is available now at Misfit’s website. It’ll become available in stores later this quarter, Misfit said.
More functionality is going to be added soon, Misfit said, along with IFTTT and Logitech Harmony integrations. The iOS app is available now, and an Android version will be released next month.
Misfit is also dropping the prices on its Shine and Flash wearables. The Shine drops to $70 and the Flash drops to $30.
