The company’s apps include a mobile social network, mobile promotion management, mobile mass transit and geo-messaging, all available on iPhone and Blackberry devices.
The mobile social network allows users to create groups, like family or friends, and then be notified when they are in your area. The mobile promotion management service lets businesses utilize a custom app that targets customers based on their location to a store with promotional or coupon offers. Waiting for a bus? The mobile mass transit application lets users track when and where their mass transit will arrive or leave. Finally, geo-messaging lets users tag their text and email messages to pop-up when they enter a marked area.

Privacy and security are always the consumer’s main issues with these types of applications. Though Locomatix claims that the consumer has complete control of their settings for each application.
The company calls its competition ʺfind it nearbyʺ applications, such as Aloqa, which notifies users of interesting activities, and coupon finder CellFire. Plenty of new competition is on the horizon as well with Geodelic recently closing $7 million for its location-aware application that learns based on users likes and dislikes.
The Madison, Wis. based company, founded in 2007, looks to generate revenue from developers using its technology based on total number of notifications sent, coupons delivered, locations monitored and analytics reporting.
