Nbryte's Tablift stand makes it easier to prop up your tablet in bed

Scott Blevins is lucky that we Americans are so lazy. He invented a product that we can use while we’re lying flat in bed, so that we won’t have to strain our muscles any more than necessary.

His startup, Nbryte, has created a tablet accessory called the Tablift that serves as a stand to prop up your tablet in bed. He showed off version 2.0 of the Tablift at the Eureka Park startup zone at the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas last week. The $59.95 device will begin shipping in the second quarter of 2014.

Blevins started his Carson, Calif.-based company after he had his own tablet troubles, as he is a lazy American. He would watch TV shows and movies on his iPad, but he got tired of holding it in his hands or balancing it on a pillow. So he looked around for a solution. He picked up on an interesting fact: Nielsen reported that over half of all tablet use occurs in bed or in front of a TV.

He found that most stands are designed to sit on desks or other stable places. Tablift is designed to hold your tablet steady even on uneven or cushioned surfaces. You don’t have to worry about knocking it over. It has three positions: sitting in a chair, reclining in bed, or lying flat.

He created a design, patented it, and raised $82,300 in a Kickstarter campaign that ended in mid-2012. He sold more than 1,000 of the devices, and then set about creating a new version.
