Netflix woos kids young and old with Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget

The world’s greatest secret agent and the most gadget-enabled inspector are coming to Netflix.

Netflix just announced the expansion of its kids’ programming with the addition of five new shows: Danger Mouse, Inspector Gadget, Some Assembly Required, Bottersnikes and Gumbles, and Super 4.

For those of you who loathe the current children’s television shows on the market, this is pretty exciting. I know I only want to subject my future children to the kind of old-school programming you find on Nick at Night, so this is an exciting move for me. But be warned: both Danger Mouse and Inspector Gadget will be updated for 2015 — meaning new episodes.

While you may recognize most of the cartoons on offer, Super 4 is still in the works. The show is a new animated series, exclusive to Netflix and based on Playmobil toys, that follows a knight, a pirate, a secret agent, and a fairy as they travel the world and fight bad guys.

Super 4 will debut in April 2015. Inspector Gadget is expected to go live in March, and Bottersnikes and Gumbles should become available this summer. Danger Mouse and Some Assembly Required won’t show up on Netflix until sometime in 2016.
