Nintendo fans, keep tomorrow afternoon open.
The company revealed today that it’s next Direct broadcast is March 3 at 2 p.m. Pacific. The digital stream will focus on games coming out for the Wii U and 3DS through summer, so expect to hear about Star Fox: Zero for the Wii U and Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3DS. Nintendo Directs have given the company a popular venue for speaking directly to its consumers, and these streams have often given us exciting new game announcements. That excitement can transfer into sales.

Still, hopefully we’ll see some surprises. The Wii U and 3DS release schedules look awfully sparse after spring, so they could both use some new game announcements.
Of course, Nintendo is spending time on its new mobile games and the NX, so its resources might be stretched thin. We don’t know when the NX will come out, but it’ll likely be within a year or so, meaning that the Wii U is nearing the end of its life. Nintendo might not want to bother releasing too much new software for a dying system, especially when it needs to create software for a new console. The 3DS, meanwhile, already has a big game coming out this year with Pokémon Sun and Moon. However, that game doesn’t come out until this holiday.
